Yanki.AI - AI-Powered Community Platform for the Jewish World

People stopped bouncing between five different apps. They stayed.

Introduction

AI-Powered Community Platform for the Jewish World - Everything in one place.

Making an AI platform for a faith-based community is not the same as making one for a general audience. The bar for accuracy is completely different, and so are the consequences of getting something wrong. Three core problems came up quickly - and each one had to be solved before anything else could work.

The Problem

  • Keeping AI Responses Appropriate: Standard AI models do not filter based on religion or culture. Left unchecked, the platform could surface content that is completely wrong for this audience. In a community where religious accuracy matters deeply, one bad answer can destroy trust in the whole platform. There is not much room for error.
  • AI Costs Were Getting Out of Hand: Every user question was going through an AI model. As the platform grew, so did the number of AI calls - and so did the bill. Running AI on every interaction was going to become unsustainable. A smarter approach to when AI gets involved was needed before the economics broke down.
  • When to Use AI and When Not To: Not every question needs AI. Much of what people ask about already exists in trusted community sources that have been verified. The platform needed to know the difference and route each question to the right source without the user noticing anything changed. Seamless from the outside, selective behind the scenes.

The Solution

We built a single platform that connects all the tools and resources the Jewish community already relies on, then added an AI layer that knows when to step in and when to stay out. It feels simple to use but does a lot behind the scenes - seamless to the user, selective under the hood.

  • Everything in One Place: Prayer times, the Jewish calendar, Torah study videos, nearby prayer spaces - all in one app. No more switching between services to get through the day.
  • AI With a Cultural Filter: Before any AI response reaches a user, it goes through a filter checking for cultural accuracy and relevance to Jewish values. One inappropriate response is enough to lose the community's trust permanently.
  • Trusted Sources First: Wherever possible, the AI pulls from pre-verified community content instead of generating answers from scratch. This keeps responses accurate on sensitive topics and cuts AI spend at scale.
  • Mikvah & Kosher Lookup: Mikvah location lookup and kosher food identification - two things the community searches for constantly - are built directly into the platform alongside the rest of the tools.
  • SMS Prayer Reminders: Users can receive prayer time reminders by SMS so they stay on schedule without needing to open the app - keeping the platform useful even when it's not in the foreground.
  • Community-Uploaded Texts: Admins can upload Jewish texts and materials so members can search through them - making local knowledge part of the platform rather than scattered across drives and bookshelves.
Emergency Services & 4 Languages. Emergency services like Hatzalah and Chevrim are built right in so help is reachable quickly when it matters. The entire platform works in English, Hebrew, Yiddish, and Spanish - serving the full global community from day one.

The Impact

5 → 1 - apps consolidated into one platform.

One home for the entire community. People stopped bouncing between five different apps. Everything they needed was in one place, so they stayed - and kept coming back. Daily active usage went up because the platform became useful for everyday religious practice, not only occasional lookups.

  • Faster, Accurate Answers: Finding accurate, community-specific information went from searching around to seconds. The right answer, from verified sources, delivered immediately.
  • Daily Active Usage Grew: Because the platform covers daily religious practice - not just occasional lookups - users return every single day, not just when something unusual comes up.
  • Trust Built Over Time: Because answers come from verified community content, accuracy improved and users started trusting the platform more the longer they used it - compounding over time.
  • Costs Stayed Manageable: Costs remained under control even as the platform scaled, because the system only spends on AI when it genuinely needs to - not on every single interaction.
  • Multi-Country, Multi-Language: The platform now serves Jewish communities across multiple countries in four languages - English, Hebrew, Yiddish, and Spanish - which was the original vision from day one.
From Idea to Community Reliance. Yanki.AI went from a good idea to something the community relies on. That transition - from useful tool to essential daily habit - is the part Promact is most proud of.
